Summertime, The Allegiance Way
We believe in the power of local. That’s why we proudly partner with area initiatives that benefit organizations, schools and residents in the communities we serve. Here is a bit of what we’ve been up to this summer.
Houston Minority Business Development Agency (MBDA): Allegiance Bank is committed to supporting minority-owned small businesses. We recently celebrated some amazing achievements at the 5thAnnual Salute to Minorities in Construction Luncheon and Awards with the Houston MBDA. Operated by Houston Community College, the Houston MBDA helps minority-owned businesses obtain access to procurement opportunities, markets and capital. Clients of MBDA have become Allegiance Bank customers and we’ve had the privilege to help them grow and prosper in the Houston market.
Governor’s Small Business Forum for Women: Michelle Wright, Allegiance Bank senior vice president and SBA loan officer, served as a panel speaker discussing SBA financing options at the recent Governor’s Small Business Forum for Women – Gulf Coast. The event provides women small business owners and aspiring entrepreneurs with relevant and actionable advice on how to start, operate, grow and sustain their businesses. The forum also offers the opportunity to network with other entrepreneurs, business owners, managers, business-oriented non-profits, and local/regional/state/federal agencies.
Buckner Shoes for Orphan Souls: According to The State of the World’s Children as reported by UNICEF, there are 148 million orphans in the world. We are partnering with Buckner Shoes for Orphan Souls to collect new shoes for children here and abroad. Collection boxes are available at the following Allegiance Bank locations through August 24: 290, West Belt, NW Freeway @ Gessner, Memorial Spring Branch, Town & Country, Heights, Antoine, Galleria and North Loop.
Pine Shadows Elementary: Allegiance Bank teamed up with Inspiring HANDS to collect backpacks and school supplies for students at Spring Branch Independent School District’s Pine Shadows Elementary. It was an honor to come alongside Inspiring HANDS to help elementary families start the school year off successfully.
American Legion Boys State: Allegiance Bank partnered with Boys State to support the participation of two students from Liberty County in an immersive week-long experience to learn about their government at the city, county and state levels. Boys State is among the most respected and selective educational programs of government instruction for U.S. high school students, and our Dayton and Liberty locations have participated annually in the program since 2004 and 2011 respectively.
Camp Lockdown: In partnership with former Houston Rocket Patrick Beverly, Allegiance Bank supported Camp Lockdown. In this week-long basketball program, Patrick works with local youth to provide instructional and skills training. Allegiance’s support allowed additional Houston-area children to participate in the summer initiative, which offered a unique way to mix financial education and basketball to promote life skills on and off the court.
