Providing our community with tools that help develop financial wellness has always been a priority of Allegiance Bank. Through our partnership with EVERFI, we’ve shared many helpful resources for families to navigate life’s changes. We work to educate the community on critical life skills that extend beyond core subjects taught in school, like math and science. In case you missed them, here is a roundup of a few of our top-viewed modules that we’ve shared over the past year.
Building Emergency Savings
Everyone knows it’s important to save money; but if you’re like most people, that’s easier said than done. According to a Bankrate Financial Security Index, approximately 28 percent of U.S. adults have no emergency savings. We all know life is unpredictable, so it’s important to be financially prepared for the unexpected. Do you have enough in savings in case you lose your job or have a minor emergency? Explore our building emergency savings module to learn how much is recommended you maintain in an emergency fund to cover 3, 6 or 12 months of unemployment or a minor emergency.
Financing Higher Education
Whether the students in your life are entering preschool or their senior year of high school, college comes faster than we ever think possible. For many, paying for college can feel like the toughest part of earning a degree, but it doesn’t have to be. Fortunately, there are many resources available to help families fund higher education. Learn more about estimating costs, saving for college and student loan refinancing here.
Planning for Retirement
Life’s everyday expenses make it easy to put retirement on the back burner. However, planning for the future is essential to establishing a retirement budget based on your lifestyle and personal plans. Oftentimes, those entering retirement have not put enough of an emphasis on their lifestyle choices. It’s never too early to start thinking ahead about the plans you would like to have during retirement. Maximize your retirement opportunities and plan for the future with these modules.
EVERFI Family Portal
Allegiance Bank recognizes the extra strain that is placed on parents that continue to balance work and childcare, which is why we are excited to provide working parents with additional tools in our Family Portal. The portal can be utilized as a reference to support the community during times of remote work and learning and allows parents to receive direct access to EVERFI’s library of 20+ digital courses for their children. Content within the portal includes a multitude of real-world topics such as mental wellness, financial readiness, digital wellness, career exploration, prescription drug safety and more. We encourage our young learners and adult consumers to utilize the program during distanced learning. Through the family portal, students can log into the platform, find their individual school, and access EVERFI’s full suite of age appropriate K12 programs.
As Houston’s largest community bank, we are thankful that we are able to reach individuals of all ages to help navigate our continuously changing world through our partnership with EVERFI.
