Banker Spotlight: Vannie Siu
At Allegiance, we’re a family composed of the most extraordinary and experienced bankers in the industry. Over the past decade, we have created a unique culture where we not only practice what we pledge each day — but we also serve our communities and each other “The Allegiance Way.” It’s a privilege to acknowledge the incredible employees who live this out.
Today we recognize Senior Credit Analyst, Vannie Siu, in this Allegiance Banker Spotlight.
What She Does
Vannie serves at Allegiance Bank’s Woodway location. As a Senior Credit Analyst, Vannie evaluates credit risks, performs assessments, configures loan pricing and conducts financial analysis. In addition, she compiles underwriting packages for loan committee presentation, provides accounting/taxation advisory services and ensures regulation/policy compliance. She also monitors credit exceptions and conducts ongoing loan reviews.
How She Does it
Vannie is proud to be part of an exemplary team that supports one another and is collectively committed to customer service excellence. Her team’s values are upheld through integrity, teamwork, accountability and key success factors derived from the customer’s perspective.
She constantly strives to live “The Allegiance Way” in her work by going the extra mile to serve her lenders. When legitimate business reasons require customers to make pressing funding requests, she works closely with her team beyond regular hours to help customers meet their goals.
Further demonstrating her commitment, Vannie pursued additional training through the ABA Advanced Commercial Lending School at the encouragement of her supervisor and mentor, Steve Rife. Through successful completion of the program, Vannie strengthened her technical knowledge and skills for sound credit underwriting. She also developed a keen business acumen with the ability to integrate concepts to effectively apply theories to real business situations.
Determined to give back to the school, after completion she joined the program’s advisory committee to contribute her accounting and banking expertise as a licensed CPA. She aspires to be a leader in commercial credit by nurturing young talent and ultimately promoting the strategic growth of Allegiance Bank.
“Vannie has proven time and again to be a selfless individual and an exemplary, valuable employee at Allegiance Bank. We are very proud of her achievement with the ABA Commercial Lending School and know she will be a valued asset to the board.” Steve Rife, Allegiance Bank Senior Vice President.
A key member of the Allegiance team, Vannie directly supports lending officers in making robust credit decisions. In addition to conventional underwriting, she leverages technology to design tools tailored to meet customer needs. Her proudest professional moment at Allegiance was her appointment as a subject matter expert for a module of a newly implemented loan origination solution (Abrigo/Sageworks), leveraging her accounting expertise to ensure a smooth transition to the new system.
Personally, one of her proudest moments while working at Allegiance was becoming a United States citizen in July of 2019. Vannie is grateful to her Allegiance family for embracing her diversity and welcoming her into this great country with open arms. She values the appreciative culture of her workplace, where employees are valued as great assets of the bank.
Life Outside the Bank
In addition to her ABA advisory role, Vannie serves as Deputy Chapter Head of the Houston Board of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants and is committed to volunteer work that supports the underprivileged community. Thankful for the “family-first” approach at Allegiance, Vannie’s top priority in life is her family. She enjoys playing the piano and violin, and hopes to connect people and make the world a better place through music and art.
