Banker Spotlight: Michelle Wright
Today we recognize SBA Lending Officer Michelle Wright, in this Allegiance Banker Spotlight.
At Allegiance, our success comes from building a family of the most extraordinary, experienced and community-minded bankers in the industry. Our unique culture empowers us to not only practice what we pledge each day — but also serve our communities and each other “The Allegiance Way.” It’s a privilege to acknowledge the incredible employees who live this out.
What She Does
As an SBA Lending Officer at our West Belt location, Michelle works with lenders and customers to determine financing solutions that meet unique customer needs and protect the bank. She also works closely with our SBA underwriter, closers and servicers to nurture the loan through the various stages of the loan process.
How She Does it
A true team player, Michelle collaborates with Allegiance Bank lenders to help their customers, and refers new business to lenders as well. An equipper by nature, she helps all stakeholders understand the SBA rules to set them up for success. Always willing to think outside the box and find a solution whenever possible, she strives to make the customer and lender experience a good one in all she does.
However, representing the best interests of the customer and the bank doesn’t always result in fulfilling original customer requests in the exact manner they’d hoped for:
“I have a good relationship with most of the customers I work with, and I am always upfront with them, so they continue to ask me questions after their loan is fully funded,” Michelle said. “I have a current carwash borrower that calls me all the time for advice and now wants to do a second loan with me even though I didn’t always tell him what he wanted to hear.”
When the Unexpected Hit
In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, Michelle and her team were greatly impacted. Putting the Allegiance Way into action, she worked alongside many Allegiance Bankers 12 hours a day, 6-7 days a week to manage the SBA Paycheck Protection Program loan request process.
She takes great pride in how her team stepped up and came through for the community, noting, “A lot of our customers needed help and the PPP loans were the solution.” She also credits her family, thanking them for their understanding of her increased commitment to help others navigate a difficult time.
Michelle has developed greatly in her career throughout her tenure with Allegiance, attributing her success to the available training as well as the number of diverse transactions she has managed. Two things she appreciates most about her job include the chance to work with a great SBA team, at an organization that helps small businesses.
Life Outside the Bank
Michelle loves spending time with her family, and true to the Allegiance Way, she has a heart to serve others. She and her family volunteer with Kids Meals Houston and Wesley Community Center, as they provide meals for kids and elderly people who need the most help. Vacationing is another special experience she shares with her family; they have visited 37 states and have plans to conquer the rest in the future.
