2021 Silver President’s Volunteer Service Award

As Houston’s largest community bank, we serve our customers and the Greater Houston community without question. However, our commitment extends far beyond serving the financial needs of our city. We pride ourselves on our dedicated team of bankers that commit to more than themselves, striving to make a difference where we live and work. Our bankers commit their time and efforts to over 250 community organizations, and most of these involvements occur sight unseen.

The Houston Food Bank recently presented Allegiance Bank with the President’s Silver Volunteer Service Award, in recognition of our 450+ hours of service to the community. We are so honored to accept this award and would like to formally thank our team members, for without their dedication, this level of impact would not be possible.

About the Award

In 2003, the President’s Council on Service and Civic Participation founded the President’s Volunteer Service Award (PVSA) to recognize the important role of volunteers in America’s strength and national identity. This award honors individuals in The United States of America whose service positively impacts communities in every corner of the nation and inspires those around them to act as well.

The PVSA has continued under each administration, honoring the volunteers who are using their time and talents to solve some of the toughest challenges facing our nation.

The Houston Food Bank

The Houston Food Bank distributes food and other essentials to those in need. They provide programs and services aimed at helping families achieve long-term stability through nutrition education, job training, health management, and help securing state-funded assistance. Since 2007, the non-profit has rescued over 153 million pounds of perishable food. In 2021 alone, they provided 207 million meals to families in need.

Allegiance Bank has seen a dire need in our community for hunger relief, which led to our partnership with the Houston Food Bank in 2020. Around 1 million people in the Houston community are considered food insecure, meaning they lack consistent access to enough nutritious food to fuel a healthy life. Our continued support and volunteer events at the food bank allow our team, their families and their friends to come together to package food for the local community.

Over the last year, over 151 Allegiance Bank volunteers dedicated over 400 hours packaging 37,000 meals for Houston’s underprivileged.

Our Partnership

Because of our strong partnership with the food bank and the continuous dedication of our employees, we could not be more proud to receive the 2021 Silver President’s Volunteer Service Award presented by Brian Greene, President and CEO of the Houston Food Bank.

The primary intent of the President’s Volunteer Service Award is to, “inspire those around you to take action too.” With that in mind, we challenge you to get involved so together we can tackle the food insecurity pandemic in our own backyard.
